Political philosophy

I have long held a conservative set of beliefs that center around:

• Local control free of unfunded mandates
• Personal freedoms as enumerated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights
• A small federal government focused on national security and international affairs
• States' rights (that is, all powers not specifically given to the federal government by the Constitution be reserved for the states--10th Amendment)
• State government that provides support for those unable to help themselves
• State government that provides training and motivation for those temporarily displaced and unable to work
• State and local governments that provide for education, public safety, infrastructure and other basic needs best managed as public services
